Bohemian Style
Informality is the basis of this style
This highly colourful style was the vouge between 1910 - 1930.
This very personal style requires confidence and panache. It
sees home decoration more of an art form, than other styles.
The elements must be old, vintage or antique. China, plates,
bowls and glassware are used as decoration in the home, more
than as utensiles. Fabric paints and dryes are used on furniture
in large, exaggerated, abstract motifs and stencils. Color is an
intricate and vital apect of the bohemian style.
Clarleston Manor in London, was decorated in the Bohemian
Style around 1915, and has now been restored and is open to
the public.
