Dining Room Furniture
The days of everyone having a formal dining rrom has passed. Now days the dining room is often attached to the kitchen or to the living room. If a separate dining room does exist it will often be multi-purpose. The dining area might also double as a music room, spare sleep over area, play room etc... The changing nature of a dining room has affected what furniture is required.

A dining room is a place to gather and eat, to entertain friends in, to share a meal with the family and communicate. The dining room should encourage its main purpose, the enjoyment of a shared meal. Therefore a dining room where possible should feel cozy and comfortable, enticing the diner to stay after the meal and talk. It should not feel cold and sterile, as this would project the wrong feelings for a shared event.

The dining room set, table and chairs, is the main piece of furniture. The table and chairs set is also the main focus of this area. Other furniture, besides the table and chair set, may include storage for china dining set, extra table for buffet serving, extra chairs for entertaining large numbers, side table, cutlery cabinet etc... If a dining room is attached to a living or kitchen, then the furniture and decorations will need to blend with the other area. Soft furnishings play a large part in decorating any space, but particularly in the case of an eating area. The soft furnishings can be easily changed to change the mood and feel, matching the company, matching the meal, matching the time of year, blending the decorating styles of attached rooms togethor.
